Why Not the Right Person But Candidate?

Why Not the Right Person But Candidate?

In the morning today I woke up with this sense of lack of synchronization, like I felt like somebody still didn’t get what we shared in the last post Develop the One You Accept, like somebody has a question. So I asked, “God, why the right candidate and not the right person? I mean, I know if you want you can just provide the right person entirely.” Yeah I tried to answer this question in the last post but let’s clear it up a bit and am hoping the one with the question you are being answered as you study this further, please read within the lines. This is how I can relay the response I got:

He reminded me of Moses and Joshua. These two men were all leaders of Israel. I repeat, leaders of Israel. Joshua succeeded Moses, and these two men all had their own issues before stepping into the role. When God showed up to Moses, Moses had his own excuses not to take up the role but in summary God was like “Who makes humans what they are? Is it not I the Lord.” He’s saying, God is the One who teaches, develops, and or transforms people into what He wants them to be. Are we together? Later, Moses died and the Bible records that since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, who the Lord knew face to face. I want you to picture what a man Moses was. He was not a mere man for mere things.

Now succeeding Moses, Joshua as young as he was, I feel him how terrified he was to step into the shoes of the man who God knew face to face. Though Moses laid his hands upon him and got filled with the spirit of wisdom, Joshua was still afraid of the picture he was seeing. He had his own insecurities. For those of us who are leaders, you can understand better this situation, you have been there. Seeing this, God in the first chapter of Joshua had to tell Joshua not to be afraid, but only be strong and very courageous. In summary, God here again was telling Joshua He’s the one who makes humans to be what He wants them to be. So, how is this in line with the question of the right person?

A leader is the right person God was looking for. Moses and Joshua were not the right persons but right candidates because God had to teach, develop and transform them into the leader, the right person that God was looking for. I said, these were all leaders of Israel; if Moses was the right person for Israel, God would have run out of options when Moses died. But no, it was only the right candidate that died and God had to project the picture of the right person in His mind into another candidate, Joshua. Hmm, listen: God did not mourn for Moses when he died. After a couple of days, God went to Joshua and said, “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise…” God how could you? Just like that? Yes just like that and God replaced Moses. God did not run out of candidates for His right person.

Again He reminded me of this one man I chilled with one time. This man asked God to help him choose the right candidate and God showed him the lady and confirmed the lady a couple of times. Later, God had to let the man relocate to another country and the man was like “God what is this now? What about the person?” He relocated anyways to Malawi and here God had to show him another candidate, the person he married now, his right person now. Now, what are we learning from these two related stories.

Lesson 1: Candidates transmit life

If God gives you the right person and not a candidate, remarrying would not be possible, succession would not be possible. Why? Coz if that’s the right person, then he or she is the only one you can have and once he or she is gone, then yeah your ever possible right one is gone too.

It might hurt but the truth is; Don’t feel like you are the only one for me, there are other candidates out there that God feels I need the same way He feels for you that can be transformed into my right person. No, you ain’t the only one for her bro. It’s a decision that we make to make you the only one for us, it’s a decision that we make to choose you entirely and love that choice with our everything. If you leave or you ain’t available, God’s pool of candidates will not run out, you will be surprised at the end we still get the right one apart from you. You’re just a candidate full of potential of being the right one. Don’t you wonder, if you say no to God, He doesn’t crumble; my bro, my sis you ain’t the only one for Him. Feel proud, in this entire world you are the only one with nobody like you. But be conscious that despite being unique, you are not the only possible candidate. Without you, God is able to raise the available uniqueness to serve the very same purpose you can serve.

“You won’t find somebody like me” Yoh in the whole world why should we find somebody like you? Babe, listen, you are like you and people will of course not find somebody like you, they will find someone like him or herself. We all are like ourselves. Don’t be deceived.

Lesson 2: Order is the way

God is orderly, though He has a pool of candidates for you, it’s only one candidate He presents to you at a time. He rather would present to you a candidate whose heart is ready for you. He won’t confuse you with several candidates at the same time, no, there’s got to be just one who is available for you. If she said no and God has not said you should be still and try again, move on bro. You might be investing in someone who is present for you but not available for you. Matters of the heart are heart.

Don’t be afraid to move on. If God just like that switched from Moses to Joshua, you too be able to move on. Yes it can happen that you are never noticed by the very same candidate that God has presented to you. It’s okay, at least you noticed them. We don’t force to be noticed. And besides, God is a Gentleman, He would love it if you do but He won’t force you to notice the candidate He’s presented to you. No, you got a choice buddy and if your choice is not what God has presented to you, I mean fine. You get, so yeah you might be investing in someone who has not chosen you literally. So you keep investing? Please do if that’s the person God is still pointing you at.

Lesson 3: Flaws are not the floor

We don’t stand on our inabilities as our base. Flaws, weaknesses, failures, inabilities and what have you are not the limit of progress. It doesn’t matter how bad someone is at something, that is not a permanent disabler of his or her learning ability. It calls to understand the chemistry that your person needs to be mixed with in order to get them unlearn the fault and learn the pleasant. And be patient, some people are fast learners and some are not. You might correct something in them today and see them do it again tomorrow. Easy, it’s happening, they are learning and learning is a process. They are transforming at a pace that their everything can absorb at the time. Both you and I were sinners, who knew one day we will be transformed into the sons of God? Some of us we look back and smile and say wow, God you can change a person. If you changed and you can change, you don’t have the right to say to someone that they will never change or learn. Such an utterance should not come from your lips, coz we all can learn. Don’t be the disabler of your friend’s learning ability. Give us the environment, shower us the grace and things will happen.

Closing Cake

You are the potential right one, potential husband, potential wife, potential mother, potential father. You’re the potential one given out as a candidate. There are other candidates beside you, however, this should not get you settling for anyone just because you feel you ain’t the only one the person is gonna meet. No, you’re a unique candidate entirely and that should get you at ease. Relax, move at the required pace into your season, the season is gonna breathe you your potential one. Please notice him or her and be the best you can be for him or her. Learn to unlearn to learn to learn. Don’t position yourself in a place where God replaces you with someone else just because you failed to serve the season well. That person might be the right one for you, but if you’re indifferently uncareful, you will pave way for those who are ready and available for the person you have met. These are matters of the heart, they require your heart to walk them.

Stay blessed and fruitful…
