FINANCIAL HEALTH
Part 3:
Laws of Financial Health
2. Law of Love
Second to the law of commitment, is love.
Love is more of giving than receiving. This law is about your ability to give. Never underestimate the power of giving, giving provokes
your receiving. Giving is how you express your love to someone, something and
especially to God. Tithe establishes trust between you and God. Through tithe,
God teaches us to trust Him with what we have regardless the amount; He only
asks for ten percent, the ninety percent is yours. It is through the same trust-relationship
that God is able to trust you with the keys to opening the windows of heaven. On
the other hand, giving shows the depth of your love for the one you are giving
to. Tithe is fixed and a must do, giving is a must do as well but it is not
fixed, you give in different amounts. Giving is your receiving, it is what
downloads the extent of your financial health.
“Will a man rob God? Yet you are
robbing Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings
[you have withheld].
Malachi 3:8 (Amplified Version 2015)
As much as we encourage you to tithe
so that God opens the windows of heaven and shower you with abundance, tithe is
not what showers you with abundance. Tithe alone is not enough. Tithe is the
key that opens the door of abundance, and that’s it, it just opens. When you
have punched in the password to your ATM, you can now withdraw any amount you
want to the maximum of what your account holds. Same way, you will need to
withdraw the amount you want from the door you have opened with your tithe.
Offerings is what you use to withdraw from the windows of heaven. Come on, when
God has opened these for you, you have access to whatever is His. Offerings is
what gets God’s abundance on your plate. What you offer is a seed. The seed
that you sow is what you reap. If you sow abundantly, you reap abundantly;
tithe has nothing to do with how much you get, but your giving.
Remember this-- a farmer who plants
only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will
get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And
don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. "For God loves a person
who gives cheerfully."
2 Corinthian 9:6-7 (NLT)
Give, and you will receive. Your
gift will return to you in full-- pressed down, shaken together to make room
for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will
determine the amount you get back. "
Luke 6:38 (NLT)
It is said giving comes out of
willingness, you should be willing to give. Giving out of your heart is what
works. And the amount that you give is the same amount you get. So let us get
this, tithe opens the door where abundance is; giving determines how much of
the abundance you get.
Last but one, all these verses speak
a common thing: give richly if you want to be financially healthy because
richly you receive. How you give speaks much about what you are. Quoting
Triumphant Magowa, giving reveals the kind of the person you are and the kind
of the person you are giving to. Giving reveals both your value and the value
of the receiver. I would say giving is faith based because you assign value to
yourself and you live that value regardless of what you seem actually. Let me
use an example of truth, by fact you might not be rich but the truth according
to God is that you are rich. In the society, we have a perception that rich
people give more. Say your financial status allows you to give a maximum
offering of k200, fine, but suppose you are rich, how much would you be giving?
You want financial health, give the way financially healthy people give. A King
gives royalty to express his value. Financially healthy people gives healthily.
Lastly, offerings or say givings are in different categories. It can be first fruits, worship offering, seed offering, the fundraising in the church, charity giving and other contributions. The services you give to the church count, don’t be idle. Just because am mentioning church, the church is not the only platform for you increase. Learn in the church, go out in the world, give to people, give to your community, give to your nation. Be it in form of your service, money, social basic needs. Giving is not only physical, give spiritually too. Peter in Acts 3 said "I don't have any silver or gold for you. But I'll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!"
You don’t need to
have money to give, you don’t have to have food to give, nooo, give your love;
speak a good word to somebody; give an advice; give an instruction; give
knowledge and wisdom. We rob God in offerings too, financial health demands you
to partake in giving. Be a cheerful giver. Your tithe is working, what is
remaining is giving to receive.
So, we are agreeing to give, right?
Stay blessed...
