The Unspoken Word

The Unspoken Word

Years from now, sitting next to you  somewhere in the world, I will say to you:

Remember when you were 18?

I do

And I remember on that day on that chat on that night telling you  I'd always be there you

But looking back on my words, that's one thing I couldn't do

But I know what I did,

At the very edge of your 18, I saw you

Am sorry that it took me long to see you and then find you

Am sorry I had to let you be the first

Coz later in the journey you told me that I don't know what it took you to say hi first

I have to find out about that, but I thank God you said hi

You said high and I saw you high

And remember when you were 19?

I do, and let me remind you

At 19, we friended a lot more

We talked a lot more, we saw each other a lot more and we smiled a lot more

I began missing you a lot more, but I didn't tell you a lot more

Almost everything was a lot more

With a lot more progressing, so was a lot less

The distance between us became a lot less

Uncomfortable? a lot less

Were we strangers? a lot less

We lacked words to say a lot less

You drove me crazy a lot less

In return, you drove sense unto me a lot more

You began making sense to me a lot more

A lot more, trust me you are a lot more

At 19, it was a night with rare stars in the sky

And I called myself blessed coz beside me I sat with the rarest Star

And I tell you, on that night you shone brighter than all the stars

Compelling me to reveal to you my intention of wanting to find you for my woman

I remember the look on your face

You didn't expect it and it took you time to believe it was me reading you my heart's verse

But I must confess

That speechless face, was the cutest thing I ever saw in that place

Every time you stared at me with that face,

I couldn't help it but smile and say wow you're an Empress

I could see confusion in your eyes about the little complication we had at gaze

But I still smiled a lot more coz on that night I met one worth my embrace

You're a lot more and I can keep talking but I have one more thing to confess

I don't wanna miss heaven by lying that I haven't met other girls like you

I have met them, but am telling the truth that they were just like you, they were never you

From deep down my heart, am sorry I thought they were you

Am sorry I told them something meant to be heard only by you

Am sorry I gave them a taste of how charming I ought to be to you

Am sorry I gave them a taste of how grateful I am to have you

Am sorry I have to cut it short, see you in the future, I've got a lot to remind you
