You Are Positioned

You are positioned

Every time you hear the name iPhone, what comes to your mind? How about when you hear itel? Presumably, iPhone beats itel yeah? Why do you think it is so?

That's the power of marketing. You see, every product attains a position in the minds of customers. In every industry every product has a rank it holds in a customer and to be competitive enough, there's a need that you create a product that rises above the ranks of other products of its nature. What highly ranks an iPhone from those smartphones below it is its distinct nature. It has features that others don't have probably. With all these superior features, you appreciate that yes it's really worthy millions of kwachas. You know what, sometimes value is in the difference. Get different with your product, get unique with it.

Why am I telling you this? You should understand that every person has a position in your life and you have a position in everyone's life. How you perceive and treat other people is determined by the position they hold in your life. How others see and treat you is based on the position you hold in their lives. Treatment is not a chance, it is made. And that's life, it is made what it is.

Y'all are my friends but let me submit to you that you don't all have the same position in me. I ain't the one who ranks you, you do it yourself. Likewise, I do have a position in your life. Whenever you hear my name, some you're excited and some it's no big deal. My position in your life is a determinant of such a reaction. Let me ask you, what position do you hold in that person?

Number 1 is God, but for the rest of the numbers; I will assign you a number based on YOU. What unique features do you have that should make me regard you the way you want? What difference are you? You don't just get to that place where you're important to someone's life, you don't just get to be someone's favourite person, you don't just get to be the story in someone's words, no it just doesn't happen. It all depends on you; it's not up to the person to position you, it's up to you. You're positioned in the position that you yourself has positioned yourself.

Come on, it's not about treat me importantly in your life for me to be important; it's about treat me importantly because am important. Give them a position to treat you from. In other words, say I want respect from you, I will not respect you for you to respect me. I will be a man of respect, then respect you, you will easily respect me that way. Like seriously, how should I respect you when you don't respect yourself? You have positioned yourself without respect but you know what, even if you don't respect yourself, I will respect you because am a man of respect, that's the position am telling you I want in your life. Hear me, you give people the position to treat you from. Let me repeat that, don't treat people in the negative position they're treating you from, treat people in the position you want them to treat you from. Don't let them give you a position, give them your position.

Shall we continue from the point to say you must give people your position, else they will give you what they think you're worth and they won't be wrong; you're in the wrong for failing to stand your position.

There is one thing I want to illustrate before I proceed: yesterday I gave an example of respect as a position you might say you want. I asked like how would you respect someone who doesn't respect oneself? I showed you two possible responses that you would release and I just wanna highlight that again a bit:

  •   Response 1: Lose respect for oneself
Cause and effect is nature, whatever you do has a result equal to the input. It's normal to literally lose respect for someone who cannot respect you. If you don't give me your attention, alright, gradually one time I will lose the energy to attend to you too. Whatever you give is what you get, you reap what you sow and there's no discussion about that. Can I remind you something; it's give and get, it's reap and sow. One mistake you can make is to respond in this way am explaining, to 'literally' lose respect for one who doesn't respect you. Minus your reason for doing it, what do you think you would get if you don't respect someone?

Hear me, every time you respond or act, that's the seed you're sowing and surely you will harvest that. What difference does it make me if I don't respect you because you are not respecting me? Am I not doing the same thing as you? In other words, the moment you treat a person the way he or she is treating you, you too succumb to the result of that treatment. It's plain like that. It is the same to say you have stolen from me, and in response I steal from you too. That makes me a thief too. You lose respect for yourself if you literally lose respect for other people.

  • Response 2: Lose respect for that person
Using the same kingdom principle of reaping what you sow, there's a better way to lose respect for that person. It's an abnormal way to the normal, but it's a supernormal way for me. You know what, I can choose to literally lose respect for you because you don't respect me but I cannot risk being like you; I won't lose respect for you just because you don't respect me, am a person of respect and I will treat you from that position, I refuse to treat you from your position of unrespectfulness. You hear me, that's how you lose respect for someone and still maintain your position of respect.

Treat others the way you would want to be treated. I am not a fool if I don't walk away on you like you do, I am not a fool if I always give and take is all you do, am not a fool if I care for you when you don't, am not a fool if I love you when you don't... I do because that's what I would love to be done to me. You hear me people, they are not fools if they ain't responding to hurt the normal way the world understands. Sometimes it's not about reciprocating, it's about just a different answer and yeah you make a difference.

Lastly, narrow it down to one person and I want you to get back to the question I prior asked: what position do you have in that person? People give attention to what they prioritise, are you a priority in his or her life? Are you prioritised because you're a priority or because of what you can do for him or her? Yeah sometimes you are loved for the benefits that come along with you and not because you are loved, exactly why are you in that person's life? For your benefits or for you?

I can keep on asking but understand that no matter what you have a position in someone's life, you have a certain value in them. You would want all people and that's fine but, you need people who value you and can add value to you. One mistake you can make is not to recognise those who value you, those who treat you in a position of the best of you. Such people are not common. It's a pity if you treat them commonly.

It's a pity to be valued by someone and never know that you're valued; it's easy for you to be ungrateful and never position yourself as valuable as you are. Value attracts value and the opposite chases away value. If you constantly devalue yourself in the presence of value, you intoxicate value. I said some people leave because you make them leave. Some people have left and can leave you because you constantly devalue the value they see in you. They will leave and they won't be wrong to. It's not easy to value someone in this world, you're blessed to be such a value to someone. The least you can do is appreciate it, appreciate your value. If you don't appreciate it, well the sad truth is that it's okay for people to walk away. There's time to stay and time to leave. If they ain't valuing you the way you do, I mean walk away lest you'd be intoxicated. I shared us a better way to do this, sow and reap, treat as you would love to be treated. Walk away, keep a distance and still treat them from your position of being. They devalue, you value; they curse, you bless; they disrespect, you respect; they hate, you love. It's possible to maintain your position from a distance.

But if I walk away, won't the same be done to me? Yes, if you get toxic too yourself. God is near to those who are near to Him, which means to some He's kept a distance; but He still loves us all, we are all under the same sun. God can keep a distance and still love you. If He can, we can too.

Never underestimate the power of proximity: there's a place you got to be proximal and there's a place where proximity is not the best idea. Above all, know what you are and name your position.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May I submit to you one thing: if you wanna recognize and begin to appreciate someone who values you, let go of some things. Let go of your distorted attitude, let go of pride, let go of bitterness, let go of your pain, let go of your past...I can't say I understand your pain but I know you have been hurt and disappointed, and am sorry for that. What am more sorry for you is what you're missing as you're holding on to your pain and past. The more stable you are in pain and the more focused you are on the pain, the further you push your joy. The pain and your past are part of the story, don't make it the story.
