What If worse are the Parents?
What If worse are the Parents?
We have been talking about parents being involved in our relationships and So I got a comment afterwards which I feel is important that we look at together. The comment was: “Some parents won't save you from trouble.... they bring you the trouble you're running from. Some get the worst parents ever.”
Okay, from what we shared last time, there are some important points I made mention of which I believe do clarify a portion of what we will talk about today. But however, I will try to speak this from another perspective that perhaps we stick together.
We defined parents and in overall we said, parents gotta be like Jesus. We further looked at some of the responsibilities or say characters of parents. Aha and we looked at examples of people whose parents were seen playing these roles. Esther, Ruth, Samson, Isaac..all these guys had parents who feared God and see how they played their roles, they helped the children relationally getting a wife or husband. My first point is:
1. They are the worst parents because they are functioning outside their definition
Trust me, every parent who does not fear God is likely to be a bad parent. Such a parent is likely to miss functioning as a father or mother. From who do you learn to parent your kids? If it’s not God, then it’s not good. It seems as a simple matter, but you can’t take God out of the equation of your parenthood and expect to do it well. I challenge you.
2. That which is out of definition is with it collision
Now, when you are born to a parent who does not fear God, the one who has then turned worse...and you happen to be a believing child: sometimes your obedience to God becomes a disobedience to your parent. Why? There’s no synchronisation of the authority of God between you and parents. Imagine if Eli was not a man of discernment, what would he have told Samuel when God was calling him. Parents are supposed to know the workings of God on their children, but they can’t when themselves are distant from God. As such when God speaks something to a child it becomes foolishness in the eyes of parents. Of course they are likely to land you in the same trouble you’re running from. They can’t hear God about your seasons.
3. Collision is with it authority recession
A parent who is out of definition and now in collision with God, will surely lose authority. Aha children obey your parents that it may be well with you and that you may live long , yes says the bible. Can I help you: you obey, you submit to authority. You don’t submit to one with no authority, no way. Parents, hear me, children obey you because you carry authority. And there’s a place where you acquire that authority, in God. Okay, let me help you: before you read Ephesians 6:1, read Ephesians 1:1 – Paul was writing this to God’s holy people, the faithful in Christ Jesus. Paul was writing instructing believing husbands, wives, parents and children. Now before you quote Ephesians 6:1, are you a parent faithful to God? Coz you’re demanding something that requires you to supply something of its kind. Am saying: you cannot submit to your husband if you can’t submit to God, you cannot love and lead your wife if you can’t submit to God, children too cannot submit to parents if they can’t submit to God. You find children submitting to bad parents if such children submit to God, period.
4. Now who should we listen to?
Parents you don’t fear God, you’re out of your defined territory and that has robbed you of your authority...should we trust your authority outside God? You’re a believing child and you know the bible instructs you to be obedient but your parent is not obedient to God, who should you listen to...Well, somebody asked the same question years back: Acts 4:19: Peter and John replied, "Which is right in God's eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!
I leave the same to you, be the judges. God respects authority which He authors. Any other authority than that gets you fighting with God. So, whose authority are you using? All am saying is, parents who are operating as God defines them they will lead you well and they will help you relationally. But if you have none, then look up to andlisten to God. There are spiritual figures out there that God will use to speak to your life and help you through. I wish you well in this.
